Here are testimonials from a few members who participated in the challenge.
" I am so glad to have participated in the paleo/wellness challenge. I feel like a whole new person, inside and out. I lost 10 pounds and 5% of my body fat in that 30 day period!!! I joined Crossfit 231 at the end of October after being invited to a special friends and family class, and it was the best decision. To be surrounded by so many motivated and enthusiastic individuals distracted me by how hard I was pushing myself and kept me going strong. I am encouraged greatly by everyone in the gym, especially the coaches. The first few days of following the paleo plan took some adjustments but then I started to feel random bursts of energy and was fine without caffeine and other foods I was used to eating. Making paleo meals in the crockpot was helpful in planning for the week. I plan on continuing eating paleo even beyond the challenge because I feel so much better about myself. Thank you again for this opportunity and I look forward to growing stronger with Crossfit!"
By the end of the first week, the training wheels were comfortably off. Any kind of dairy, or anything with added sugar or alcohol was out and I didn't miss it. And after losing 12 pounds and 3 percent body fat, I still don't.
This is my testimonial for the Paleo/wellness challenge that we partook in last month.
I am a 52 year old male, who has had a hard time dropping weight. I had just gotten back into the Cross fit routine again after several months of recovery.....post op.
The decision to join this Paleo challenge was pinnacle to the success I have experienced. I have dropped 13 pounds, 3% body mass, 3% body fat, and 2 pant sizes.
The challenge promoted many changes, dietary awareness, steady exercise regiment, whether it be at the Box, on the track or at home. It also helped me get even more involved with my coaches, Cross fit members, and really worked on form rather than amounts being lifted.
I had a great partner in the Paleo Challenge. Without his support and efforts, I may have struggled. I actually adhered to the guidelines better knowing I didn't want to let my partner down.
It also has made me a better cook. Lol that definitely matters!
I highly recommend anyone who is curious to try something new and different to consider this, and to talk to people who have participated in it at one time or another. They will have many suggestions and recipes.
I am still following the program, not a bad lifestyle.
When I heard CF 231 was about to begin a "Paleo" Challenge I immediately thought "I don't know if I can do it." Despite my apprehension Jenn B. asked me to partner up and we were off. Jenn and I talked about our meals, recipes, logs, and when we would meet up at the gym. At the beginning it was really hard. No matter how much "protein" I ate I always felt hungry. After the second week I saw the scale move...down five pounds and more importantly down 1.5% body fat. During the third week I started having less cravings and was feeling a lot stronger. I am so glad I did the Challenge! I bonded with so many people at the gym over diet and workout stories, gained muscle, lost fat and pounds and am feeling stronger and more positive than ever. I plan on incorporating Paleo eating into my daily life. I am so thankful to Jenn B. for inspiring and supporting me. I learned it is important to consistently challenge and believe in yourself. CF 231, the people, the workouts, the challenges have always helped me do that and for that I am truly grateful.
The Paleo challenge taught me a few things:
- I do not need to each the large majority of crap that I eat simply out of convenience.
- After the first week I had noticeably more energy, and felt less tired through out the course of the day
- I lost weight but I saw a more pronounced loss in body fat specifically in my appearance
Going forward I will strive to have a balance of a Paleo / Non-Paleo diet. The Paleo diet is very restrictive and does cut out some things I consider "healthy" (beans, greek yogurt, etc) but I will definitely continue to work to keep the unnecessary carbs, sugars and fillers out of my diet and focus on eating non processed foods.
While it truly was a challenge I really enjoyed the test and will take components of this into my every day life.
The Paleo Challenge I just completed at CF231, (30 Days All out Paleo) was a blast! It was tough in the beginning because I’d been totally off track with my eating plan.Week one was a doozy, but with the help of the coaches and other members, they kept me on point. Each day after, it got easier.Coach Chris had set-up a Q & A forum which helped immensely, she guided us through each step and clarified any concerns we had. Some were posting there favorite recipes, other showing there support and weighing in on there progress. We all got a little obsessed, it was fun.A point system was set-up to help you achieve your goals and kept you accountable.Food logs were handed in weekly and kept you on target. Overall a great experience with some great people.
