"Spotlight" MEMBER Taylor Bedell

Taylor joined CF231 in May of 2016 after finishing her first year of college.  After leaving in Sept 2016 for school once again, Taylor has made it a practice to drop in on her visits home.  During this semester break, Taylor has been attending class regularly. You will see her working on her mobility prior to class and challenging herself when the strength portion of the class comes. She has made tremendous gains in strength and has improved her fitness level. She is always approaching coaches in an effort to find ways to improve her Crossfitting skills. If you don’t know Taylor, she’s the one with the big smile.

When did you begin Crossfitting?

May 2016

Why did you decide to begin Crossfitting.

I was intrigued by the things people in Crossfit were doing, and I wanted to see if I could do what they did.

Describe your first day at the gym.

At first it was quite intimidating. But thanks to Chris and Brian I felt very welcomed. I scaled everything and by the end of class felt much more comfortable and couldn’t wait for the next class.

What motivates you to keeping coming back each day?

First, seeing the changes in myself and secondly being part of a special community. A place where people are welcoming and encouraging.

What are some of your short term and long term goals.

The short term goal is to improve my snatch series. Long term is to continue to build confidence in myself and continue to grow.

What is your favorite WOD?

Any WOD with back squats, running and rowing.

What is your least favorite WOD?

Anything with overhead squats

What’s your favorite music track at the gym?

I like it when Chris puts on country, but I like listening to rap when I use the barbell….don’t know why.

What are some hobbies outside the gym?

I like sailing and hiking

Share something about yourself that would surprise us

I work for a Race Car Team with my family.

What changes have you seen since beginning Crossfit?

I have seen gains in strength and flexibility. I have made changes to my diet, have a better working knowledge of what healthy is, and finally I feel more confident in the things I do.

What advice do you have for people just getting started.

Try not to be anxious because you probably will be.  You will soon realize that at this box you will get great encouragement and support.
