Its 9:30 am and at CF231 you will probably notice an unassuming young woman diligently going about her warm-up for the upcoming strength and metcon session. To those of you who have not had the pleasure she is ……. Katie Hults a 36 year old mother of two.
On September 18th Katie completed her 1 year of Crossfit at CF231. One year ago Katie made the decision to give Crossfit a try at the suggestion of her brother. Katie’s brother, himself a Crossfitter told her that Crossfit was a great stress reliever and provided a strong sense of belonging to a fitness family. She agreed to give it a try as her brother accompanied her to her first foundations class.
“I was very intimidated and quite nervous that first class, I had no real athletic experiences up to that point, especially with barbells and those other strange implements”.
As time went on Katie started becoming more comfortable with the entire Crossfit experience. She finished her foundations course and began Crossfitting 2-3x per week. Now 1 year later Katie attends classes 4-5 times per week and attends Coach Anna’s Olympic lifting class on Sunday mornings, earning her the nickname “Hulk-Hults” This past Memorial Day Katie completed the “Half Murph” and is looking forward to the challenge of the full “Murph” in 2019.
When we asked Katie’s about her journey, Katie stated that she has seen a tremendous change in her strength, cardio and flexibility. “CF231 is a place that was special right from the beginning. The coaches and members are always very encouraging and made me feel very welcome from day one”.
Oh and by the way Katie, Nice Handstand Push-ups………Check that box off……..
Congratulations on your 1 year anniversary ………………….
